chothomasDec 16.2016 Should We Trust Ourselves?
We hear these phrases frequently "believe in yourself", "trust yourself", or "follow your heart".  As followers of Christ, is this something that Christians should practice or even say?   Since the bible is true revealing, these statements are actually contractictory to biblical teaching.  Submitting Christians should be saying "don't believe in yourself", "don't trust yourself", or "don't follow your heart".  These may sound depressing, but it is true. After the sin entered the world, man is total depraved.  That's why Jesus Christ had to come.  If we were only partially depraved, then Jesus is nothing more than a motivational teacher.     Even after receiving Christ, we still have to submit to the Holy Spirit and the Bible to do the will of God.  I know this is true because Jesus said I cannot do anything without him (John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.).  If you ever hearsomeone preach "trust in your judgement" before confirming biblically, you should be very careful... he may be a confused person or a ravenous wolf in sheep's clothing.   Here is what God says about the fallen man's mind.   Jeremiah 17:9   The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?   Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,     and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him,     and he will make straight your paths.   Proverbs 28:26  Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool,     but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered   Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man,     but its end is the way to death.   Proverbs 12:15  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,     but a wise man listens to advice.   Instead, we should trust in the Holy Spirit confirmed through the scripture.     Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,     whose trust is the Lord.

chothomasDec 12.2016 Biblical Inerrancy: What does it mean?
Many people misunderstand the term biblical inerrancy.  What does it mean and how does it apply to my Christian sanctification?   Just like changing the definition of marriage, gender, pastor, evangelical, and church, the progressive liberal Christianism like to change the definition of biblical inerrancy.     When you follow a bit of reasoning, it is easy to understand.  "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3-16-17).  What this means is that God authored the bible through prophets and apostles.  God is goodness, perfect, unchanging and eternal.  Since God is the source of goodness and perfection, how can the good God introduces errors?   The scripture doesn't change because God breathed it.  Once God breathe out something, it doesn't change.  The instruction to the church was the same in the 1st century as is in the 21st century.  If you believe that the interpretation of the written scripture should apply differently in the 21st century United States or Korea where illiteracy among men and women are almost non-existent, then you are believing that God's instruction to the church changes over time.  If it changed, why do we still need to have churches or pastors? It is 21st century after all where we all know how to read and write or watch great sermons from the Internet?  Why do we even bother with living holy lives when it will change in next 40 or 100 years?   The interpretation of the bible changes based on your experience (empiricism) in something.  The fallacy of this logic is the reversing the situation.  If someone else never experienced the same thing as you, then should that person interpret the bible differently than you? The bible interpretation of the bible cannot change and should be based on the original intent of the author. It's interpretation is objective and not subjective.   God ordained the scripture to be unbroken as written in John 10:35 (... "Scripture cannot be broken").  Man dies.  The creation itself is corrupted through one man's sin.  But God guard his breathed out Word.  It is his promise and he faithfully keeps his promise.  If the scripture is broken, then why do we even bother studying the bible or even try to live it's teaching?  How do we know which part is broken and which is part has continued accurately?  Anyone who thinks that the scripture may have lost its continuity over time, then he should be asking "how do you know in the first place that it is broken?"  Did a perfect God revealed that to him personally or did his sinful and corrupt logic assumed that God doesn't have the power to continue his Word for all generations?   When God commanded be meek and humble, he is referring to man's assumption of God's sovereignty.  The greatest arrogance comes from thinking that somehow, we can make "improvements" to God inspired scripture.  That is what Adam and Eve did... they wanted to become like God.   For those of you want clear understanding of the biblical inerrancy, you can get that from 1978 Chicago Council of Biblical inerrancy (http://library.dts.edu/Pages/TL/Special/ICBI_1.pdf).

Albert Mohler (one of my heroes) is the president of Southern Seminary.  The Souther Seminary is the flagship seminary for the Southern Baptist Convention.  He was instrumental in returning SBC from the fallen heretical worldviews between 1920s to 1970s to to bibical authority believing reformed faith.  He is considered to be one of the premiere theologians of our time.  He offers daily podcast in how to interpret and understand current news/events biblically.  Instead of relying on human wisdom, he will always view from Christ-centered perspective taught through the scripture.   Enjoy!!!   http://www.albertmohler.com

chothomasDec 01.2016 Regeneration: Born again.. again
Too many "pastors" have been in the news recently stating how "Christians" need to be "born again... again".  I understand what they are trying to emphasize.  Even though, they were trying to point out the need for true Christians to live obedient and holy lives, it is blasphemous to redefine what "born again" means.  This twisting of biblical terminology defined by Jesus Christ himself in John 3-1-21 will cause problems for new converts.  We should use correct terminology instead of making excuses like "that's not what I really meant" or "I meant well".   As true Christians, you are "born again" is the regeneration by the Holy Spirit by the grace of God for your eternal salvation.  It represents the sacrifice of Jesus Christ through his death and resurrection. Due to the imminence and importance of being "born again", true Christians are "born again" ONCE.  Even though it may be just wording, "born again... again" literally means that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was not effectual the first time, so he had to die again for you.  Two thousand years ago, the humanity committed its greatest sin.  We killed our savior.  How many times does Jesus Christ need to die for your salvation?  It demeans God's sovereignty and His power even though you can claim "I didn't mean it that way".   As true Christians, instead of redefining "born again" to "born again... again", we should correctly learn the importance of what "born again" really means, so we do not empty our Lord's sacrifice.

chothomasDec 01.2016 Truth Faith: Red Letter Christianity?
One of the modern humanism champions, New York Times, posted an interesting article.  New York Times wants to redefine evangelical definition and beliefs. Modern bible highlights what Jesus said in red letters.  This sounds really nice, but we should look into this claim more deeply.  The hidden agenda is that modern Christians should focus on what Jesus said directly in "red letters" in the bible only and avoid talking about Old Testament or any apostolic epistles since they are in black letters.  The premise is built on trying to be more loving and inclusive to the current modern progressive society.  It is sad to see modern Christians trying to be more merciful than Jesus himself.  This movement is not about true loving, but denial of the Scripture as the Word of God.  This type of loving is "Hollywood definition of loving" and not "biblical loving".   If you emphasize Christian to be loving, then are you a Hollywood loving or biblical loving?   http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/29/opinion/the-evangelicalism-of-old-white-men-is-dead.html?_r=0
