  새누리의 첫번째 인도 단기선교가 오늘로 시작되었습니다. 손경일 담임목사님을 포함해 6명의 형제 자매가 인도 땅으로 오늘 날아갔습니다. 처음으로 가는 인도 땅에서 주님의 사랑을 전하고 복음의 씨를 뿌리고 돌아올 수 있도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다. 특별히 선교팀의 먼 여정과 건강 그리고 안전을 위해 모두 기도해주시기 바랍니다.

Farm work by visitors: There are workers from Texas.  We all worked together: harvesting chili pepper, digging ground for a septic tank.  Every week, there are visitors from all over the world through the tourist company.   More people coming this week to work on the farm.  (Picture is in black and white to reduce the size of the file.)

Dance with local people: National Holiday in N K.  We really enjoyed dancing with local young people.  You should experience amazing moment by yourself.  

Hello Church! We have finished our retreat and ministries well. It has been a very tiring but full week and it has been a great blessing to see the unexpected fingerprints of God all over our time here in Cuernavaca. We are really looking forward to debriefing as a team and to share in each others blessings and testimonies.  Once again, we started off the day with a group devotional with the local youth kids. Soon after, we headed to Tepoztlan, a tourist town with a ruin on top of the mountain. It was about two miles of vertical climb up and we were all able to finish the hike up the mountain. We were so thankful and glad that no one was left behind.   On top of this ruin, where we were told that it was a possible site for human sacrifices in the past, we gathered together to pray. We prayed for Mexico, Emmanuel Presbyterian church, for the strongholds to be shattered in the name of Jesus Christ. After climbing down this mountain, we went in to the town square to eat lunch and get ready for the gospel presentation, body worship and skit. Though we didn't have the permit necessary to do public presentations, we decided to step out in faith and see what God would do.  After the gospel presentations, we went around and passed out the gospel tracks that has both English and Spanish. While some students were able to communicate the message of the gospel, some students just handed out the tracks. Despite the fact that we had language barriers and were not trained to use the 4 Spiritual Laws in the most efficient way, we know that God still used our students' attempts.  Teacher Will praying after sharing.   As we were leaving, we saw one gentleman reading one of the tracks that we passed out. May the Lord bring salvation upon the people that we encountered today!!  We finished the day at the town square with the famous ice cream that missionaries bought us! We will be getting on the airplane less than 12 hours from now. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back home and sharing all that God has done.  Prayer Requests 1) That everything will go smoothly at the airport. Working with our airline has been nothing short of challenge. Also pray that we will be able to get home without anyone getting sick. Our team is physically very tired from long days throughout the week.  2) That our team will be able to understand and be able to take home what God has done in their lives and through our team so that we can share in the blessing that we have received with the church family back home.  See You All Soon!! 

Hello Church! Praise the Lord for the divine appointments that He has given us today. We had a full day filled with ministry opportunities at the children's hospital and fellowship with one another.  We started the day with the group devotional as usual. Soon after the group morning devotional, we grabbed the gift bag that we made for the children the day before. We filled the colorful bags with small things such as balls, stamps, stickers, bubble, light-up sticks, inflatable toy hammer, box of crayon, notebooks and the four spiritual law gospel track printed in Spanish and English. With these bags in hand, we rode the bus to a large general hospital. We were actually supposed to go to another hospital that the church had visited before but at the last minute it did not work out. God had different plans in mind. This ministry opportunity opened up because of a connection that the church member had with one of the chief nurse working at this hospital.  We were told that we would not be able to share the gospel or be able to pray for the children, but Praise The Lord!! We were able to share God's Word with the children, parents and staff. After sharing of God's Word, each of our youth gave a bag of goodies to the children. I'm not sure if our youth were prepared to encounter what they saw - the young hospitalized children. Most of our youth really tried to connect with the children even with their limited Spanish. As I looked at them, I really saw Christ's love being displayed through our youth. Smile that we left on a boy and a mother's faces. :) Andrew, who is fluent in Spanish, was able to share the gospel track and pray with him.   Some of our adults were able to share and pray with the staff and parents as well. One of the hospital staff was moved to tears by our heart-felt prayers for the children and family. For us, we were thankful that God gave us this opportunity to witness Christ's work through us. We were so thankful for this divine appointment. We were so thankful that God used us to bring even the smallest of smiles and to bring hope through prayer.  Pastor Jae and I could not help but realize, why can we not do this at home? Once again we are realizing that mission is not somewhere far away, but mission is HERE and NOW. Our mission field is where we live. It is Bay Area. Prayer Request 1) We will be traveling early tomorrow to a tourist spot about a hour away. There we will be hiking up for about an hour to see the ruins. After coming back down, we are going to do our gospel presentations and we will be sending the students out with the gospel tracks to share with whoever is there. Typically we need a permit to do this, but we are going to prayerfully go ahead and step out in faith. Please pray that the officials would look favorably. Please pray that God will use the gospel presentations. Please pray for more of God's divine appointments.  2) Please pray for my shoulder (Pastor Jamie). I slept wrong last night and my mobility is severely limited along with very sharp and stiff pain.

Hello Church! Before coming to Mexico, we were told by the missionary to pray for the weather because it has been raining every day. With outdoor gospel presentations and evangelisms planned out, we have been praying for the weather for more than a month now. Today's agenda was to go to the city square to do our gospel presentation in the form of drama/body worship and give free hugs to people with the hopes that God's love will be shared. Praise the Lord for great weather!! All the heavy rain came during the night and we had AMAZING weather today. All in all, doing outreach together with the local youth have brought them closer together. The bus ride to the city square and the bus ride back to church was drastically different in decibel level. Praise the Lord for bringing two different cultures and languages together under the purpose and works of His kingdom!! Here are few pictures from today! Starting the day with worship. Even after having seen this many times, I was moved to tears by the fact that the gospel was being proclaimed in the public square where many do not believe in Jesus Christ. After the presentations, we divided up into smaller groups and went to give free hugs to people with the message, "God loves You!"  This is the large group picture taken after the one hour of free hugs (Not all the small groups came back on time. They were busy hugging more people). You can see the joy of uniting together under a common purpose. This is how some of the team members unwinded after a long day. Prayer Answered and Requests 1) Thank you for all the prayers for our health!  No one is sick!  2) We are visiting the children's hospital tomorrow with small gifts to encourage them and pray for them. Please pray that we will be Christ's Presence to everyone that we encounter.  3) Please continue to pray for the unity between the two youth groups. Pray that we will be able to encourage them in the Lord. God has been teaching us so clearly that mission doesn't have to be far. Mission is HERE and NOW. Pray that the local youth group here will also understand that truth - that their mission field is HERE and NOW - so that they will be EMPOWERED by God to be AMBASSADORS for Christ here in Cuernavaca.

Hello Church! Greetings from Cuernavaca Mexico! Day 1 - Oakland Airport to Mexico City to Cuernavaca Despite the tough red-eye flight, we have arrived safely to our final destination - Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel de Cuernavaca (Cuernavaca Emmanuel Presbyterian Church). Praise the Lord!  This is senior pastor Richardo and his lovely wife, Rebecca. We were welcomed so graciously by them and the church body. Upon arrival, we had lunch and brief orientation before splitting up into 6 different host families. The day 1 agenda that they had prepared for us was delicious local tacos for dinner and much needed rest from the travel. We are so thankful that God brought us here safely and we are looking forward to His plans unveiling in bringing us here to Cuernavaca to this specific church. Day 2 - Our First Full Day All of our six teams arrived back at church by 8AM local time (6AM California time). Though it was early morning back at home, there was sense of freshness and restfulness in our team's faces. We were quickly joined together by the local youth kids. Thus started our retreat together, where two different cultures came together under the Spirit of Christ, eager to learn from one another, fellowship in truth, and serve God's kingdom together.  This is our pastor Richardo and the translator Naomi (Missionary Abe and Elaine's daughter). Breaking ice with some games. In the afternoons, we have ministry & outreach outings everyday. Today, we went to a local park to attract some other kids through various games of sports (volleyball, kickball, soccer) and to invite them to the retreat being held at the church. Rain did not hold us back too long before we ran out to the fields to play sports.  Few Prayer Requests 1) We had few of our members not feeling well before departure and during out travel to Cuernavaca. Praise to God they are all doing well now. However, with rain the temperature has definitely dropped a bit. Please continue to pray for our health that no one will get sick and miss out on anything. 2) Please pray for us that we would know God's heart and His purpose in bringing us to Cuernavaca. We want to be sensitive to what He is doing here and we want to bless and encourage the believers here in the Lord. May we bring glory to Him as we submit to His leadership and direction over our team. 3) Before departure, we were constantly praying for unity of our team. Now that we are here, our prayers are changing to unity of believers, for the two church bodies to experience unity in the Spirit and enjoy fellowship in Christ. One of the biggest challenge is language barrier. Please pray that we will experience fellowship that goes beyond culture and language barriers. Thank you for your love and prayers!! 이번 일본 선교에서는 하나님께 감사드리고 성도님을 기쁘게 할 좋은 소식이 있습니다. 저희가 방문했던 두 교회에모두에서 너무나도 귀한 아이들이 예수님을 영접하였습니다.  먼저 류가사키 교회에서 하나님을 영접한 미즈키를 소개합니다. 미즈키는 올 해로 3번째 VBS에 참가한 5학년의 학생입니다. 첫 해 레베카 자매님께서 만난 미즈키는 다른 보통의 남자 아이들과 다를바 없이 장난끼 많고 에너지가 넘치는 아이였습니다. 선생님들을 가끔 힘들게 하기도 했었죠. 두번째 참석한 VBS애서 수진 자매님이 기억한 미즈키도 많이 다르지 않은 장난끼 많은 아이었습니다. 하지만 이번에 만난 미즈키는 조금 달랐습니다. 예수님을 영접할 준비가 되어있었던 거지요. 수진 자매님을 비록한 저희들이 미즈키를 위해서 기도 했고, 저희가 떠나기 바로 전 미즈키는 예수님이 우리의 구제주임을 고백하고 예수님을 영접했습니다. 시부야 교회에서는 수진 자매님께서 담당하셨던 10명의 아이들 중 7아이들이 예수님을 영접했습니다. 특히 예수님의 탄생과 죽음, 그리고 부활을 잘 설명했던 마지막 크래프트를 통해 아이들이 예수님의 사랑과 능력을을 이해하고 깨달았으며 예수님이 구주세이심을 고백했습니다. 한 번 두 번도 아닌 4번의 확인에도 아이들의 고백은 흔들림이 없었습니다. 이 아이들이 자라면서 환경에 굴복하지 않고 예수님 안에서 성장할 수 있도록 많은 성도님들의 기도를 부탁합니다. 

하나님의 보살핌 속에 일본 단기 선교를 마치고 일부 팀원들 오늘 무사히 샌프란시스코 공항에 도착했습니다. 승.주.찬!

오늘은 VBS 마지막 날 입니다. 3일 동안 아이들이 하나님을 찬양하고 배운 것을 부모님들께 선 보이기 위해 열심히 연습 중입니다. 오늘도 역시 크래프트부터 게임 등으로 예수님을 배웁니다. Universal Language: 승.주.찬. 드디어 발표 시간. 아이들은 지난 3일 동안 배운 찬양과 찬무를 부모님께 선보이고 많은 부모님들이 참석하시고 즐거워 하셨습니다. 그저 발표로만 끝나는 것이 아니라 입으로 몸으로 주를 찬양한 아이들의 모습이 하늘이 닿아기를 기원합니다. 모든 프로그램을 마친뒤 저희 미션팀과 시부야 교회의 선생님들과 교재하고 서로 기도하고, 무사히 마무리 된 VBS를 위해 하나님께 감사드렸습니다.  히가시 키리메에서 2주 동안 열심히 아이들과 하나님을 섬기고 집으로 돌아가기전 시부야에서 함께 시간을 보냈습니다.  모자 상봉. 히가시 키리메에서 봉사했던 티모시와 현경 자매님이 만났습니다. 한 가족이 각각 다른 곳에서 아이들은 섬기고 만난 이 자리가 너무 의미있고 아름다은 곳이었습니다. 두 팀 모두 다 함께 마지막 예배를 드립니다. 모두 안전하게, 그리고 하나님의 역사하심으로 잘 마무리된 이 번 미션을 감사드리고, 은혜로운 경험을 함께 나누었습니다. 9_ 모두를 먹이기 위해 부대찌개를 만들어 주신 분을을 위해 감사의 마음을 전합니다. 김영길 목사님께 저희와 함께한 사진과 감사의 마음을 드렸습니다. 많은 서포트에 감사합니다.

시부야 교회에서의 VBS 둘째 날입니다. VBS 시작 전 연합 모임을 가졌고, 오늘은 특별히 목사님께서 서로 다른 곳에서 모인 저희들이 예수님 안에서 서로 사랑으로 섬기고 서로를 좀 더 알아가고, 기도 안에서 오늘 아이들을 섬기기를 소망하셨습니다. 선생님들과 아이들이 모두 함께 사진 찍는 시간을 가졌습니다. 아서 전도사님과 히로 전도사님이 예수님의 부활에 대하여 말씀을 전하셨고, 아이들도 무척이나 진지하게 말씀을 들었습니다. 설교 후 예수님의 부활에 관한 찬양을 열심이 따라 했고, 같은 주제로 즐겁게  예수님의 빈 무덤을 볼 수 있는 망원경을 만들었습니다. 사랑으로 점심을 섬기시는 성도님들을 소개하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 아이들을 데려가기 위해서 미리 오신 어머니들이 아이들이 찬양하는 모습과 인형극을 열심히 보는 아이들을 보셨습니다. 프로그램을 마치고 함께한 자리에서 오늘도 저희와 함께하신 하나님께 감사드리고, 특별히 선생님으로 저희를 위해 봉사해 주시는 마이크 목사님의 사역을 위하여 기도드렸습니다. 일본에서 교회 개척을 위해 힘쓰시는 마이크 목사님을 위해서 많은 성도님들의 기도를 부탁드립니다. VBS에서 봉사해주시는 많은 분들과 함께 추억을 담습니다.

오늘은 VBS 첫 날입니다. 어제 밤 늦게까지 데코레이션을 했음에도 불구하고 어김없이 이른 아침 예배로 하루를 시작합니다. VBS 시작이 10시지만 9시부터 아이들이 오기 시작했습니다. 일년 동안 기다린 여름 셩경 학교가  많이 기대되었나 봅니다. 기도와 찬양으로 VBS를 시작합니다. 선생님과 아이들이 서로서로를 알기위한 게임을 시작합니다. 가위, 바위, 보를 하면서 이긴 사람이 진 사람에게 스티커를 얼굴에 붙이고 있습니다. 조현도 선교사님께서 세례요한이 예수님 침례하는 모슴을 온몸으로 말씀을 전하고 있습니다. 나이별로 조를 만들고, 선생님들과 함께 인증샷!  즐거운 점심 시간입니다. 맛있는 버섯 하이라이스와 오징어 샐러드로 맛있는 점심을 먹었습니다. 준비해주신 손길에 감사드립니다. 간식은 시원하고 달콤한 수박! 게임 시간, 영차 영차, 우리 팀을 위해 열심히 뜁니다. 오늘 일정을 끝내고 헤어지기 전에 아메리칸 스따일로 허그 시간을 가졌습니다. 아이들을 보낸 후 팀원들과 하루를 돌아보고 기도로 마무리를 했습니다.

오늘은 시부야에서 VBS 첫 날 입니다. 아침 예배로 하루를 시작하고, 시부야 교회의 여러 선생님들과 VBS가 시작하기 전에 아이들을 위햐여 하나된 마음으로 기도드렸습니다. 올 해는 더 많은 아이들이 VBS를 찾았고, 그 중 많은 아이들은 작년 VBS에도 참가했던 아이들입니다. 비록 이 시간에 영어를 배우러 오는 아이들이 대부분이지만 하나님께서 아이들 하나 하나에게 계획하심이 있을 것을 믿습니다. 찬양으로 시부야 교회의 VBS를 시작했고, 다른 다양한 프로그램을 통하여 예수님에 대하여 배워가기 시작했습니다. 이런 작은 씨앗이 아이들이 성장하면서 같이 자라나고 언젠가 큰 열매를 맺는 귀한 시간이 되기를 소망합니다. 찬양과 말씀 후 아이들이 즐거운 놀이 시간과 간식 시간을 가졌습니다. 모든 프로그램을 마치고 마직막 찬양으로 VBS 첫 날을 잘 마무리 하였습니다. 오늘 하루도 하나님의 사랑으로 잘 마칠 수 있었음에 감사드리고, 내일은 하나님의 인도하심으로 더욱 잘 할 수 있도록 기도드렸습니다.
