Multiply, by Francis Chan, is a book that works like an evaluation course that guides the reader through several core themes that a life of faith in Jesus Christ should regularly face, each with questions that challenges and reminds the reader to apply them in their lives. The book also goes through the central theme of both the Old and New Testaments (God's promise of blessing and redemption through Jesus Christ), continuing to summarize each sections in the form of questions that call for the reader's action.

The book talks about our mission of the Great Commission to go out and make disciples of all nations, to apply the Word of God in our lives instead of stopping at just understanding it, and praying every chance we get -- all topics that put importance in the carrying out of our actions. The title of the book is also, in a way, a request/command for action (Multiply). That said, the textbook/workbook/questions-in-the-end format of the book felt very fitting, as it further urges the reader to also act on what was just read. 

As I reflected upon the questions given by the book, I was once again reminded that there are so many things that, despite having learned and purportedly understood the gravity of, I am just sitting on and not taking the appropriate reaction to. If I do understand the lethal effects of sin and the miraculous plan of salvation that was achieved through Jesus Christ, why really is it that I am not currently enthusiastically letting everyone know, at the least to people I call my friends who I know have yet to believe in it? Is my shyness really a fair excuse when their eternity is at stake? 

On the other hand, I was also very thankful for our church as I read the book. I got the feeling that most of the topics that were covered in the book were all topics that I have heard recently, through sermons, discipleship trainings, and other general discussions within the church. I believe that our church has been doing its best to act as a body of Christ, and I will do my best as a member of that body to share the Gospel to the world.

In conclusion, I appreciate the book's excellent coverage and summarization of fundamental themes of our faith, and more importantly, its call to action based on what we believe in.
